The chemistry of life– or in other words, Biochemistry! The field of Biochemistry is a mixture of life science and chemistry and can be divided into three subtopics: structural biology, enzymology, and metabolism. From molecular genetics to neurochemistry, biochemistry dives into topics surrounding biological relationships and properties with cells and molecules. This specific field of science combines chemical techniques and knowledge to solve biological problems, such
as disease inheritance, evolution, and many more! Specifically, biochemists study and analyze structures of molecules and cells such as protein, vitamins, DNA, RNA and hormones to predict how each of these functions would interact with one another. Many biochemists will research and investigate these particular activities and functions to apply this information when working in hospitals, universities, food institutions, drug developments, and many other industries. With multitudes of discoveries regarding the theme of molecular mechanisms being brought up to light, biochemistry will continue to evolve correspondingly. Especially with the technological development of medicines and treatments in the medical world, genetic research from the field of biochemistry in order to enhance treatments for genetic disorders has nowadays been needed more than ever.
