With the significant boom in human technology regarding artificial intelligence, the question lies: is artificial intelligence the invention of improving humankind or the invention of anarchy?
In brief terms, artificial intelligence is an algorithm that has been programmed into a machine to mimic human tasks or abilities. Common examples of machines applied with artificial intelligence are computers, technological assistance (Siri, Google Home, Alexa), and robots. These devices are able to replicate an abundance of jobs such as maids, waiters, and even bus drivers. According to the 2020 World Economic Forum, it has predicted that artificial intelligence could replace up to 85 million jobs in the next 5 years. Occupations such as cashiers, data entry work, and many others have been averted to AI as exemplified in stores and businesses. Many workers, especially adults earning less than $50,000 per year, have expressed their worries about their jobs being taken over by AI machines. The burden of robots taking over our world continues to stress individuals as the rapid growth of artificial intelligence continues.
Though there are negative aspects of artificial intelligence, there are still positive elements to take into account. The invention of artificial intelligence has allowed society to progress life in a more efficient and comfortable manner. By programming computers with an algorithm through the use of human intelligence, many potential mistakes humans may make have been diminished. Furthermore, the use of human intelligence has allowed workers to complete their tasks in a more efficient manner. Sorting files, data, and extracting information has been known as a tedious task for many, but it can now be completed with just a few clicks thanks to the help of AIs. Although the aforementioned situation of artificial intelligence acquiring millions of jobs, the technology of AI is predicted to create 97 million new jobs. Becoming an AI engineer, trainers for the use of AI, and data analysts will soon be occupations desirable to many.
